- מְכֵרוֹתf. pl. 1) (מָכַר) sales, trnsf. m. (cmp. לְקוּחוֹת) seller. Gen. R. s. 98 (ref. to Gen. 49:6 מְכֵרֹת־) for whom are those weapons fit? למְכֵרוֹתֵיהֶןוכ׳ to their seller, to Esau who sold the birth-right (to their father). 2) (= מְכֹרוֹת, fr. נָכַֹר, cmp. מַכָּר) friendship, neighborhood, neighbors. Tanḥ. Vayḥi 9; Gen. R. s. 99 (ref. to Gen. l. c.) וי״א מכרותיהם מגורותיהםוכ׳ (ed. Wil. מְכוֹר׳) and some say mkherothehem, means their neighborhoods (ed. Wil.: and some say, read it mkhorothehen) as we read (Ez. 16:3) V. מְכֵירִין.
